Handwriting to Font

Make cards in your font

Set a greeting, a place card or a social post in your own handwriting, add stickers, a drawing or a photo, and export it. It all happens on this device.

What a card is good for here

The card maker is meant for short, personal things: a thank-you note, a birthday message, a table card, a quote to share, a label for a jar. Text is set in the font you pick from the selector in the Text tab, which lists your own saved fonts first and the bundled handwriting fonts after them. Because your own font is drawn from your strokes, a card in your hand looks like your hand, with the small tilt variation the handwriting pages tool uses.

Some ideas that suit the format: a set of place cards made by duplicating one page and changing the name; a recipe card with a photo of the dish; a postcard with a drawing on the front and a message on the back; a square quote with a coloured scene behind it; or a labelled drawing made by adding text layers next to a freehand sketch. Each of these fits in a handful of layers, which is the sweet spot for this tool.

Backgrounds that are generated

None of the backgrounds is a stored picture. Paper styles (plain, lines, grid and warm), solid colours and gradients are painted by the canvas when you choose them, and the soft colour-wash scenes are built from a gradient and two pale glows. That keeps the page small and means a background is always exactly the size of your card, with no stretching.

Working with layers

Everything you add sits on its own layer: text, stickers, freehand drawing, photos and saved signatures. Tap a layer on the card to select it and drag it; the sliders below set its scale and rotation. The Layers tab lists them with the top layer first, lets you move each up or down, hide it, or delete it. Hiding is useful for trying a design with and without a sticker before you export.

Stickers are drawn as vector shapes in code, so they stay sharp at any scale: a heart, a star, a six-petal flower and a ribbon banner, each in a colour you choose. There are no emoji or image files involved.

A five-minute card

  1. On the Page tab choose the greeting card size and pick a scene or the warm paper.
  2. On the Text tab edit the starter words, pick your font from the list and set the size so the message fills about two thirds of the width.
  3. Add a sticker, such as a small star near a corner, and shrink it with the scale slider.
  4. Insert a saved signature from the Photo tab and drag it under the message.
  5. Check the Layers tab, then download the PNG, or the PDF if you plan to print it.

The greeting-card size is 1,050 by 1,470 pixels, which prints at 5 by 7 inches at 210 dots per inch. That is fine for a card, and sharper than most screens. Print the PDF at 100% scale on photo or card stock, and leave a margin of at least a quarter inch for printers that cannot print to the edge. Keep important words away from the outer edges for the same reason.

A simple designer, honestly

  • This is a small card designer, not a replacement for a full design suite. There are no templates, no text effects, no alignment guides and no cropping tools.
  • Layers are moved by dragging and sized by a slider, not by corner handles.
  • Your design is not saved when you leave the page. Export what you want to keep.
  • Fonts that you made but have not finished (fewer than 26 lowercase letters) are not offered in the font list.

Card questions

What sizes can I make?

Three: a 5 by 7 inch greeting card (1,050 by 1,470 px), a square social post (1,080 by 1,080 px) and an A6 postcard (1,050 by 1,480 px). Changing the size keeps your layers where they are, so you may need to move them.

Can I put my own photo on a card?

Yes. Add a photo in the Photo tab. It is read by your browser and drawn onto the canvas; it is never uploaded. You can move, scale and rotate it like any other layer, and place text or stickers above it.

Why is there no undo button?

There is an Undo stroke button for drawing, and every layer can be hidden or deleted from the Layers tab. A full step-by-step history for every action is not part of this version.

How do I get a card with several pages?

Use Add page for a blank one or Duplicate page to copy the current one and change a few words, which is the quickest way to make a set of place cards or invitations. Each page exports separately.

Is the PDF vector or an image?

A single-page PDF holding the card as a high-quality image. The handwriting is rendered from your drawings into that image, so the PDF is for printing and sharing, not for editing.
